Rams
Here at Orchard Hill we have taken great care to start our flock with very correct conformation and high fleece quality.  The picture above is Granger and Digory which are the herd sires we used for our 2007 lamb crop. This year we are downsized to just one icelandic ram on the farm. Granger is bred to all 4 of our ewes for spring 2008 lambs.  Contact me if you are interested in spring 2008 lambs to come. If you scroll down further on the page you can see rams used in prior breeding years.

Granger  (ORC RAM GRANGER M5P 22R)

Solid moorit ram - polled - twin

Granger is a nicely put together ram also born on this farm in 2005.  He is the son of SusieQ and Stryker. He is a grandson of the Icelandic ram Bambi and carries genetics from the Icelandic rams - Dalur, Askur and Hunn from his sire's side. Granger has incredible fleece and lots of it in a deep red chestnut color.

Digory  (ORC RAM DIGORY B35P 31R)

Black badgerface mouflon ram - scur - single

We are excited to use this ram from our ewe Pansy and ram Worf born in 2005 spring. He is a grandson of the Icelandic ram Vestri and has Hynkill genetics from his mother. He carries moorit and spotting. This guy's nubs grew over the last winter into some longer horns/scurs but all his past spring lambs are very clear polled except Jewel's ewe lamb who grew a nice set of horns.  I feel comfortable using him again for clear polled lambs and am happy to be able to have him contribute again to our breeding program here. Digory's fleece is very pretty with almost a bluish hue to his creamy coat. His fall 2006 shearing is as soft if not softer then my girls wool and you would never know it was a ram's fleece except for the musky odor.

2004 Breeding Rams (for spring 2005 lambs)

Worf - AIHMRRVESTRIRAM B4P 519N

black mouflon ram - twin - polled

I am excited to have Worf in our flock. He came to our farm this fall all the way from Oregon. He is a son of the Iceland ram - Vestri through artificial insemantion and he is magnificant. His girls are quite smitten by him. I am hoping to see him pass on his beautiful mouflon pattern to his up coming lambs.

Stryker - SRX RAM M5P 336P

Moorit ram - triplet - polled

This ram lamb comes to our farm this summer from Tongue River Farm in Missouri. He has genetics from the three icelandic rams - Dalur, Askur and Hunn in his bloodlines. His exceptionally square conformation and long silky locks will produce some nice lambs this coming spring. His group of girls include - Maple, Mayzie, Nikki, Susie Q, Carmel, Maggie and Iselle.

2003  Breeding Rams

The rams below were used for the fall 2003 breeding season.

Ash - SRX 152M-twin

black ram - polled

We are extremely excited to have Ash in our breeding program from Tongue River Farm. He has extremely soft and very black wool which you can see has stayed nice and black still at two years of age.  Ash's bloodlines contains genetics from both Icelandic rams - Blaevar and Faldur.  He carries spotting and moorit.

JJ - FFC 108k-twin

moorit spotted ram - polled

JJ came to us from Frelsi farm where he had been used as a herd sire. He has very correct conformation and cascades of very soft white and brown wool.
